Welcome to the website of The HYDE STREET YOUTH BAND [1928 - 2008]. Our band hails from the western suburbs of Melbourne, capital city of the state of Victoria in the south-east of Australia. Formed in 1928 as the band of the (then) Hyde St. Primary School in Footscray, we have long been associated with the tuition of young people in brass instruments. Many musicians both past and present have made their start with Hyde St. and we continue with that great tradition. A brief history of the band can be found on the "HSYB History" link above. With our main ensemble and Training Band, brass/percussion players 18 years and under OF ANY STANDARD are always welcome! We rehearse on Wednesdays during school term in the Footscray-Yarraville bandroom in Hyde St. between the Primary School and Town Hall/old bluestone church.  Rehearsal times are....
